aha EPACHA ACTIVITIES

The Epacha Private Wildlife Reserve is the ideal extension to your Etosha Safari. Here, you can discover many different animal species by joining us on an exciting morning, afternoon or night drive.

Another major advantage of staying at a private reserve is that you are accompanied by a professional guide who tracks the game in the field. This also makes it possible to leave the 4×4 vehicle and walk by foot, and to enjoy a stunning sunset in the middle of the wilderness.

“The rarest of the bush species come to life at night!” A daytime safari varies greatly from one at night. Join us for a night drive in the Epacha Private Game Reserve to see creatures you have never seen before!

When you open yourself up to such a thrilling wildlife experience, the variety of animals you can possibly see at night offers something different from the ones we spot during the day.

CLAY PIGEON SHOOTING

Once you have seen the wildlife and enjoyed the spa at aha Epacha Game Lodge, you may want to try your hand at a more thrilling activity: the age-old art of shooting special flying targets with a shotgun.

This unique activity is cherished by many of our guests, as it guarantees an adrenaline rush and a truly exhilarating experience time and again.

Please note that guests are accompanied to the shooting venue by an informative guide and supervised at all times while in possession of fire-arms. The Lodge provides clay pigeons and cartridges.

MYSTIQUE SPA

aha Epacha Wildlife & Wellness Resort is the ideal destination in Namibia for a real ‘spafari’. Here, the adventure of a safari and complete relaxation are combined and perfectly executed in all three lodges on the Reserve.

aha Epacha Game Lodge & Spa was the first in Namibia to combine the African safari experience with wellness when it first opened its doors in 2001 – many other lodges have since followed suit. This pioneer spa is fully equipped with a sauna, steam room, an open treatment or massage room, and two private treatment rooms. The most popular attraction at this spa is the open-air duo-treatment room, where you can enjoy one of the many treatments with a partner or friend

LOCAL HIMBA VILLAGE

The Himba is one of the last nomadic tribes in Africa living strictly within their tradition. This tour offers amazing photographic opportunities and in depth insight into the fascinating life and ways of these people.

Experience the milking ceremony, the smoke bath, and information on the beliefs around the holy fire, ancestors and herbal medicine. You may also expect to learn about the jewellery and hairstyles that imitate the status of each tribe member and their close relationship with nature, their cattle and children.

ETOSHA PARK

Besides our own game drives on the Epacha Game Reserve, we also offer daily safaris into Etosha National Park.

Place of Dry Water

Etosha, meaning ‘place of dry water’, is centred on a huge, flat calcite depression (or pan) of about 5 000 square kilometres in northern Namibia.

The ‘pan’ provides a great, parched, silver-white backdrop of shimmering mirages in an area of semi-arid savannah grassland and thorn shrubbery. The pan itself contains water only after very good rains and sometimes for only a few days each year.

This, however, is enough to stimulate the growth of blue-green algae, which lures thousands of flamingos to the pan at certain times of the year.

Having been proclaimed a game reserve in 1907 and covering an area of more than 22 750 square kilometres, Etosha National Park is one of Africa’s major wildlife sanctuaries. Despite being a highly ‘managed’ environment featuring a cluster of man-made water points around the central pan with a boundary designated by a patrolled electrified fence, this is indeed one of the most special game parks in Africa.

During the drier months (June to November), the waterpoints exert a magnetic pull on the big game herds, which form the centrepiece for visitors looking to see the nearly 150 mammal species to be found in the park. These include several rare and endangered species, such as the black rhino, Black-faced Impala, tsessebe and gemsbok.
